Kayaking on the Loddon

The river is beautiful, full of birdlife, and kayak-friendly for hours in either direction. Bring your own or hire one — Laanecoorie has access points a short drive away.

Historic hamlets

Tarnagulla, Dunolly, Carisbrook, Laanecoorie — small goldfields towns, each with their own history, some with a pub still standing. Explore the region rich in gold rush history.

Melville Caves

A short drive out of Eddington. Granite outcrops and sweeping views. Fuel up at ours first — it’s a long walk and there’s nothing out there.

Gold prospecting

This is prime gold country. The Golden Triangle runs right through here, and people have been finding nuggets on these paddocks for a hundred and seventy years. Detectors for hire in Dunolly and Maryborough.
