How It Happened

* renactment at a different location by George Miller

The building was raised in 1971 as a roadside servo, just in time for the Oil Wars and the collapse of civilisation. For a while it became Fat Nancy’s, a greasy diner known for the burgers and the bar fights, frequented by biker gangs and renegade lawmen alike.

Then came the bombs. The land turned to desert, and stayed that way for decades – until the rains. Great floods swept through Central Victoria and turned the region into a tropical paradise overnight, washing boats up onto the property. Animals never before seen in these parts stepped out of the new jungle. Many of them can still be found inside Eddy’s Garage today.

The Skipper and his First Mate, after decades eking out an existence in the chaos, stumbled across the abandoned servo and decided it would do. They forged an outpost of hamburgers, cocktails and questionable decisions – fuel for the survivors rebuilding the New Australia, one cheeseburger at a time.

Locals back in the day – where the giant chess board is now

That story may or may not be true. Below is a photo of how the servo looked as we found it.
Everything since we have built ourselves by hand, what you see today is only the beginning!

Meet The Crew

Skipper Tim

Dishwasher

Steers the ship, shakes the coctkails, built and repairs the vessel. Cross him and that’s a keel hauling.

First Mate Deb

Burger Flipper

Everything is made from scratch in our engine room / kitchen. Deb has created and executes all the recipes, along with designing and tending our gardens.

placeholder

Crew Member

We can’t be bothered getting their pictures and typing in their names. They do all the actual work.

Geoff

Skeleton Pirate

Despite being a pirate Geoff isn’t actually a crew member, he’s just waiting for his takeaway order … for a very long time.

Dean O’Reilly

Brontosaurus

Dean has been with us since day one, he’s quite old so he’s happy with his job of just standing out the front attracting passer-bys.

Eddy

Owner

Quiet and mysterious, he is the one we point to when a customer says ‘you must be Eddy’, no Eddy is Eddy.

Ricky

Security

Our resident bouncer, he might look cute and cuddly but he’s a brawler with bite.

Tex

Accounts

Our inhouse bookkeeper, keeping them well groomed and tidy. Nowhere to be found when the ATO calls.
